How to Throw a Product Launch Party During a Global Pandemic
After getting all our ducks in a row, including a press release sent out nationally, our new TackleBox app was released into the world.
Only one thing was missing: a BIG thank you launch party to celebrate our team’s success and hard work—a singular challenge during a COVID pandemic.
So, in lieu of a flashy, in-person event, we organized a virtual party, leveraging Microsoft Teams for audio, video and screen share. We called the party “Launch Party Lunch Party,” a nod to one of our favorite episodes of The Office.
It was all hands on deck—a PowerPoint deck that is – that served as the agenda for the event. To tie everything back to TackleBox, we used our new product to link an Excel-driven prize tracker into one of the PowerPoint slides and watched it automatically update as changes were made to the spreadsheet. It worked like magic!
Here are the ingredients that went into our successful launch party:
- We sent Grub Hub gift certificates to the team so that we could all enjoy lunching together apart
- Team members were encouraged to belt out their favorite songs courtesy of Virtual Karoake
- Everyone joined in a rousing game of TackleBox Trivia with questions like, “Guess who wrote this code” and “Name that pixel”
Contest winners pulled prizes from a virtual grab bag including gift certificates, swag, and a day off - Team members received awards that recognized their individual talents (e.g. “Most likely to refactor the entire component library”)
- A surprise “thank you” video for our Georgia Tech intern on his last day
Kudos to Insiten’s hardworking and creative team for an amazing new app and a job well done!
