Name: Eli Allstrom-Luttrell

How long have you been at Insiten?:   Since Jan 2017

Favorite Food:  Fake meat

Eli is an inquisitive explorer and voracious lifelong learner. After high school, his adventurous spirit led him to China where he lived, learned the language, and worked for several years before coming home to finish college. His love of learning led him to Atlanta’s Digital Crafts coding bootcamp, where he was hired by Insiten upon graduation.

Ever the inventive tinkerer, Eli’s desk is usually full of projects. He is constantly turning something he is experimenting with into a useful tool. Since starting here, he turned his side work of working with Sharepoint developers to create a C# data model of our main application into a full-time gig, transitioning from front-end developer to dev-ops engineer.

Easy going, funny and supportive of his teammates, the question Eli asks most in the office, is:  “Anything I can do to help?”

  • What is something interesting that you’re working on right now?

Currently, I am working on fully automating our application deployment process.   This initiative will significantly reduce the time required to create and update environments, increase code quality, and improve our ability to support the QA, UAT, and engagement teams.

  • What do you do in your spare time?

If I ever had any I would probably want to work on one of the numerous projects I have been thinking about for ages, like finishing that chicken coop in the backyard, setting up a proper workshop in my garage, any number of raspberry-pi related tech projects, building my own mechanical keyboard. I also love reading, usually history/sci-fi/fantasy/comics, but finding the time to actually sit down and read is always the problem.

  • What do you like most about your job?

I get to work on lots of cool tasks and projects that keep me challenged and doing new things. The “constant learning” aspect of software development is what drew me to it in the first place, and this job provides plenty of opportunities for that.
